A snow contract is a service agreement, not insurance: it does not cover injuries or damage on your property. What is and is not included is written in the contract, and the written proposal sets the price for your site. Seasonal contracts close October 31.

The contract year

How the contract year runs

Seasonal contracts are built in the fall so routes are set before the first storm.

  • August and September

Site walks and proposals. Priority sites are walked first.

  • October

Contracts are signed by October 31. Stake and marker placement is agreed.

  • November

First de-icer runs and a first storm check of every route.

  • December to February

The heart of the season. Trigger depths, clear-by times and the storm line run as written.

  • March and April

Last storms, a spring sweep of the lot and a season report.

Questions

Questions about billing

What does a season mean?

The contract states its dates. Many run from the first of November to the end of April, and the dates are written on the proposal.

What if the winter is mild?

On a seasonal contract the price does not change with the snowfall. On a per-push contract you pay for each push, so a mild winter costs less.

What if it snows more than usual?

A seasonal price holds for plowing, walks and, if you chose the full plan, ice. Hauling and work outside the contract are quoted.

How do I cancel?

Before the first push of the season, in writing, with no charge. After that, the contract's terms apply; per-push contracts can be ended any time and you pay for pushes already done.
